Growing Ai

藍 Ai
藍(Ai) is a color material used in ukiyo-e. In Japan, vegetable dyes such as 藍 have been used for printing and coloring clothes. At the beginning of the 19th century, the mineral pigment Belle Lien Blue (ベロ藍 Bello Ai) was imported from the West and became widespread. As a result, a vegetable dye that easily fades, is no longer used. Currently, 藍 seedlings are generally hard to come by. This time, I had the opportunity to get seeds, so I decided to grow it myself.

Black seeds like sesame seeds. Knead with hands and peel off.

Sow the seeds in the pot.

Cute buds have come out!

A lot of buds have grown.

The leaves are getting bigger and taller.

As the roots grew, I replanted them in a planter.
As the number of buds started to increase, we thinned out. I carefully pulled it out with tweezers. If you don’t thin it out, it will be wiped out!
